Dems finally release text of the health bill

The very one they passed last week.  Get that?  They released the text of the bill they passes last week, before anyone could read it, because it hadn’t been written yet.  It’s a curious tactic they have used on more than one occasion, and lends a modicum of cover for Democrats voting for these bills.  Because the devil is often in the details, in doing it in this way the Democrats can often dodge more criticism than they otherwise would.  And apparently being able to dodge some, rather than none, is what they are all about these days.  Wouldn’t want those pesky citizens being informed in order to consent, now would we?

Michelle Malkin has a post up about it, including reference to something Mitch McConnell mentioned last week as offer of an olive branch to Olympia Snowe for her vote in Democrat favor on the bill.

It’s important to remember that the bill won’t exist in this form for long. Senate Majority Leader Reid and Sens. Max Baucus and Chris Dodd along with senior White House aides are merging the Finance and Health Committee legislation into one bill that will be considered on the floor of the Senate. The behind-closed-doors dealings have drawn criticism from Republicans, particularly because President Obama had promised a transparent process and pledged to negotiate the health care bill on C-SPAN.
