We have a responsibility to ensure Obama’s success?

When I read Michelle Malkin’s blog yesterday I was amazed to read that a Democrat was lecturing us in our responsibilities as an American. Apparently, as Mayor Michael Bloomberg believes, we have a responsibility as an American to ensure President Obama’s success.

But I think he is our president. And what we have to step back and say is, whether we voted for Barack Obama or not, whether we agree with Barack Obama or not, whether we like Barack Obama or not, he is our elected president. And our success, your children`s success and your grand children`s success depend on he being a good president while he`s in office. You may want to change presidents. You may yourself want to run against him. That`s fine. You can do that in a campaign. But you also have a responsibility as an American to make him be successful because the country is not successful if the president is not successful.

I quickly jumped over to Google and tried to find a similiar statement from Mr. Bloomberg countering the vociferous attacks against President Bush during his administration, and sure enough came up empty.  I simply don’t recall any high profile Democrat saying anything similiar when the Democratic party went to war against President Bush.  Mr. Bloomberg will have to excuse my cynacism and will simply have to accept that his President will get what he himself sowed during the Bush administration.  Then Senator Obama spared no effort in casting stones against a President whom himself was fighting two wars, including making incendiary statements that directly effected American forces fighting in foreign lands.

Of course there is also the aspect that I vehemently oppose President Obama’s political policies.  I am enraged that President Obama spent the first two and a half years spending his political capital on liberal policy issues to the detriment of the American economy.  I am enraged that President Obama spent his first two and half years fighting to foist an unconstitutional and massively expensive Health Care law upon us when he should have been putting Americans back to work.  President Obama should have been focused on the 9% unemployment rate when he was instead focused on his next vacation.  And now that President Obama says his attention is focused on the economy and the American public Mr. Bloomberg will have to excuse my disbelief.  Thus far all I have heard from his President are words.
